The weekend is close but the professional network doesn’t take a break! We are excited to share with you some thought-provoking news from the previous week. Which are the best workplaces according to LinkedIn, why has the number of LinkedIn news editors increased in the UK, and what does LinkedIn’s CEO want to tell us? Let’s find out!

LinkedIn announced the best companies to grow your career in the U.S. The 2022 Top Companies list of the 50 best workplaces is based on unique LinkedIn data across seven pillars: the ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity and spread of educational backgrounds.

The included companies are taking steps to attract new talents and have the qualities expected out of a good employer today. Amazon is the leader in this ranking, its most common job titles are Software Engineer, Fulfillment Associate and Warehouse Associate. Alphabet is in second place, mostly looking for Video Editing and Productions Skills. Next is Well Fargo, which largest job functions include Finance, Information Technology and Engineering.

LinkedIn is tripling the number of its editors in the UK. Since LinkedIn News launched in 2011, the professional network provides newsletters and podcasts for all its members. The journalists do their own reporting and share the best content from other publishers. Soon the editors will be nearly 200 with 80 news roles around the world being added.

The number of LI editors in the UK is increasing to nine and their work will focus more on topics such as Brexit and the UK labour market. The additional roles include: daily news editor, careers and jobseeking editor, finance editor, retail editor, tech and innovation editor, and graphic designer/producer. According to LinkedIn News Executive Director Sandrine Chauvin the expansion will provide LinkedIn members in the UK with even better information, analysis and debates on the platform.

Ryan Roslansky, the CEO of LinkedIn, shared key leadership insights in an interview for Adam Bryant’s newsletter “Art of Leading”. He talked about taking his professional role during the pandemic, the challenges of leadership he faced, and the responsibility of making the most important decisions. Despite his professional experience, he admitted to not being fully prepared for this new journey.

You can only learn to be a CEO by being a CEO.

He determines must-have qualities for future leaders, which he calls the three Cs – confidence, courage, and communication skills. Roslansky also looks for pragmatic optimism. According to him, having a positive vision for the future, but also being clear about the state of the world is the right way to get people to join you and follow you.
