We’re coming to you once again with all the hot topics surrounding the professional network – from updates they want to implement and partnerships they’ve made to studies about AI use on the platform. Read below for all the details.

Premium Users Will Enjoy Slideshow Profile Banners

LinkedIn has introduced a new option for Premium Business subscribers: the ability to create a rotating slideshow of up to five images as the profile banner. This feature aims to visually express personality, skills, or offerings, providing a dynamic and engaging first impression.

Key details:

  • Who gets it? Available exclusively to Premium Business users.
  • How it works: The images auto-scroll every few seconds, adding an animated element to the profile banner.
  • Purpose: Ideal for showcasing services, projects, or listings, especially for freelancers, entrepreneurs, real estate agents, or designers.

While it’s not a groundbreaking change, it offers a creative way to enhance your profile’s appeal. LinkedIn encourages upgrading to Premium for access to this and other tools like AI profile assistance and custom CTA buttons. The feature will roll out globally in the coming weeks.

AI-Generated Content Dominates LinkedIn

A study by Originality AI reveals that over 54% of LinkedIn’s long-length English posts in October 2024 were AI-assisted, demonstrating how deeply AI tools have shaped the platform’s content. This trend correlates with the rise of tools like ChatGPT, which caused a 189% spike in AI usage in early 2023. The shift has also influenced post length, with average LinkedIn posts now just under 1,500 words – significantly longer than the sub-500-word average from three years ago.

LinkedIn itself has contributed to this transformation by rapidly integrating AI tools. Features like AI-generated posts, profile enhancements, and smart comments have blurred the line between human-authored and AI content. These tools, designed to enhance user engagement have inadvertently fueled the surge in AI-generated material. LinkedIn’s professional tone and structured language make it especially susceptible to this shift, unlike platforms like TikTok, which rely on originality and humor that AI struggles to emulate.
